Description
The tower of Galarreta, which collapsed in July 2014, is the protagonist of the mural. It occupies much of the façade and stands alongside the adjoining portal, which does still remain intact. In the background rises Mount Korrosparri, and on the horizon, the peak of Aitzgorri.
The elements that bring nature and life into the composition are the owl — a bird of prey that once lived in the area — and the oak, the most abundant native tree of the surroundings. The composition is organised across four planes: in the foreground, giant leaves; behind them, the owl, positioned in front of the vanished tower; and at the back, the landscape of the mountains.
