Conceptual Description and Characteristics

In this mural workshop intercultural relationship and the "golden rule" as a concept in all religions and cultures were discussed and explored. The golden rule states: "treat people as you wish to be treated".

The artistic exercizes completed by the 6th graders dealt with these issues: representing different cultures (languages, customs, religions, etc..) and how they live together in solidarity and fellowship.

The design is a dreamed landscape with the sun in the center. The sun is represented by the Gypsy wheel. The trees have "leaves" fcreated by using letters and words from different languages and al`phabets (arab, chinese, romanian, Caló, basque, english, sapnish, etc.) The roots of the tree simbolize the culture of our ancestors ahile the trees themselves represent growth, and mestizaje. The actual drawings the children created are blown up and maintained intace (even the crayon texture) and they live proudly in a dreamwed background.
